In honor of mental health awareness this month, we’re taking a look at anxiety. Most individuals have experienced some amount of anxiety in their lifetime. Whether you can identify with that, or perhaps know of someone who has, understanding anxiety is essential to raising awareness about mental health as a whole. Here is a short list of some common anxiety symptoms, but is not limited to the following:
- Persistent worry and/or fear
- Nervousness
- Difficulty concentrating on tasks
- Sweating
- An increase in heart rate
- Trouble sleeping
Along with anxiety symptoms, there are specific disorders of anxiety. An example of this is panic disorder, which is having intense anxiety that involves panic attacks. The causes of anxiety are not the same for everyone nor are they all known. Sometimes there are underlying medical conditions that can produce anxiety.
