Mother’s Day

The second Sunday in the month of May celebrates Mother’s Day, here in the United States. This year Mother’s Day will be on Sunday, May 9, 2021. The history of Mother’s Day dates back to over a hundred years ago, and was recognized as a nationwide holiday in 1914. Many other countries around the world also have a similar commemoration and some also celebrate in the month of May.

The role of a mother can represent your actual mother, stepmother, grandmother, an aunt, the mother to your children, a foster mother, or a mentor who impacted your life in this way.
Mother’s Day can also recognize the overall influence of mothers in our society and the impact they have had on our lives. The role of a mother is significant in the parenting of a child and in the relationships we have. Mother’s Day is a day set aside to show the love you have for your mother and to express your thankfulness to them for the role they have played in your life.
Traditions of celebrating Mother’s Day are special and can be unique to each person and/or family. Celebrating Mother’s Day can include sending her a card, spending time together, having a spa day, buying her a gift, sending a bouquet of flowers and much more. For those mothers who are no longer present, it can be a time to remember her or maybe complete a tradition in her honor. Enjoy your Mother’s Day this year and make it special for the mother in your life!
