The holiday season can be a flurry of parties, traveling, shopping, spending time with loved ones, good food, community events, work events and more. Many people take time off from work and school during the holiday season while others are given time off and can accomplish these activities of celebration. Unfortunately, just because you may be taking a rest from work, does not mean that illness does too. The last thing anyone wants amidst a busy season is sickness to set them back. Here are a few tips to staying healthy through the holidays:
– Don’t sacrifice your sleep. Getting adequate sleep each night is important for your body to stay healthy.
– Follow food safety. When preparing holiday food for yourself and others, wash your hands before and after and keep a clean working station. Also, make sure your food is stored properly and hasn’t gone bad.
– Eat healthy foods as much as possible. While the temptation for holiday treats is all around, you can make healthy choices whenever possible.
– Keep warm. Dress appropriately for the weather and keep your body warm and dry.
– Keep exercising. If you are used to regular exercise, don’t skip out over the holidays. Try to incorporate some form of exercise to keep your body healthy.
– Keep track of your stress. The holiday stress can creep up, stay on top of it by setting aside time to recharge.
